Over the years the firm has rendered architectural and other assistance to organisations dedicated to the empowerment and transformation of previously marginalised communities and individuals and staff members have spent a substantial proportion of their time and efforts on various activities and contributions in this regard.
In February 2010 Vusi Mashiyane became a major shareholder in the company after 17 years of service in which he has studied and worked his way up to his present position.
Assistance to community-based organisations has been a major concern of the firm since 1985 and we have been involved in numerous initiatives, projects and pursuits for minimal or no remuneration.
Khongoloti Consultants, owned by Mr. Richard Takalani Hlengani is a successful example of such an initiative. Mr. Hlengani’s collaboration with our firm started in 1984 -1988 with the sponsorship of his secondary education. From 2001 – June 2006 he was delegated as a community Liaison Officer and Community Participation Co-ordinator for various RDP Projects to further his skills. In the same period he becomes one of the Directors for Smit & Fisher Planning (Pty) Ltd. In 2007 He formed Khongoloti Consultants related to Tribal Authorities and Land Affairs to sign Lease Agreements with Cellular Communication Companies and carry out Resolutions at Community Meetings. He still works in close association with Smit & Fisher from site proposal, site applications, building plan applications and other aspects related to council work.
